Have you ever been to a gathering where
someone asked you what you do “for a living?”
Well, when people ask me, my answer is quite the
'party stopper!” That’s because I am a colon
hydrotherapist and give colonics professionally.
People say things like, 'You do what??? You put
what, where?' But I love my work because it
helps people in a practical and concrete way. In
case you don’t know, colonics are a cleansing
procedure that flushes toxins from your colon
using filtered water. Colonics can help resolve
digestive and elimination challenges and
increase energy, among other positive effects.
In my conversations about colonics I always
get a few of the same general questions and I
thought I would address some of those questions
in this article:
- Do I need to do any special
preparation for a colonic? No. There is
no need to change your diet or do
anything different. We will talk about
what you eat and any changes you might
want to make for your general health,
but nothing special for the colonic.
Isn't a colonic gross and smelly,
like an enema? No. There is no mess or
smell in a “contained” colonic because
it is just that - contained. A colonic
is not like an enema. The water goes
much further around the colon and is
contained in a hose that goes into the
sewer. There also is no prolonged
'holding' of water - the water from a
colonic is continuously going in and out
of the colon, all kept neatly within
tubing for that purpose.
- How long does a colonic last? The
first colonic session includes a
consultation along with the colonic. The
consultation is about your health
history and more detail about what will
happen in the colonic. The consultation
and colonic each take about 15-20
minutes so allow for about 1 hour,
including time getting dressed, etc.
Each colonic, after that, lasts about
35-40 minutes. At Holistic Fitness, the
therapist stays with you the entire time
giving you more time for questions.
This article is a very short version of
questions and answers that are frequently part
of my conversations involving colonics. For more
detailed explanations, please call Cindy
Caldwell, certified Colon Hydrotherapist.
